Ted Williams exposes the seamier side of “wildlife” photography, citing examples of different game farms catering to photographers looking for a “nature” shot. He cites Animals of Montana, Inc. as one such farm. Check out his article. It’s unfortunate that glory seekers do this, both photographers and hunters/fishers. How many “amazing” fish shots have actually come from a pay-n-catch river? I can say that I have not faked any of my pictures on this site (who needs to fake a 12″ cutthroat).

Is USFWS Nominee Sam Hamilton the Best Choice?

Obama nominates Sam Hamilton to head the US Fish and Wildlife department. The USFWS has had credibility issues during the Bush administration for altering or suppressing scientific findings. However, Hamilton is currently the head of the USFWS’s Southeastern Region where scientists and employees were surveyed and have some low ratings for key issues in their region. Although The National Wildlife Refuge Association and Ducks Unlimited have both given support for the choice as well as The Trust for Public Land.
