I am pleased to announce a magazine that stimulates the heart and mind of the angler. Rise Forms: Fly fishing’s literary voice, seeks to publish work that conveys both the passion and contemplative nature of fly fishing through high quality, literary articles.
Over the past couple of years I have been looking for a place where I can consistently read good fly fishing literature. I have many literary angling books, but those get pricey and sometimes I just want to read something short. As I have been reading blogs lately, I decided there were enough people out there who might have a similar desire and ambition. I started contacting folks, and, well, here we are.
Our website is under development but you can get a flavor of it from the About Us page and learn about the editorial board and more on both the general philosophy of the magazine as well as the specific topics we hope to cover.
We are in the process of soliciting articles from a wide range of authors covering an array of topics. If you would like to be considered for publication, please read the Submission Guidelines.
If you have any questions or comments about Rise Forms, please use the contact page.
We anticipate launching in the fall of 2010. We look forward to reading your submissions.

Editor-in-Chief

Bravo Scott.
Thanks!
Keeping things hidden from friends uh? Sneaky bugger! Of all the things you have tinkered with…that have impressed me…well, I think this is going to be way cool! I would wish you luck…but I don’t think you will need any. I say it’s gonna be a big hit!!!
Dan,
Wasn’t really “keeping things hidden” from you, we just haven’t talked in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the positive feedback.
Can’t wait to start reading. This is great. Wishing you success. You’ll still have time to hit the local waters at least once with me this summer and fall, right?
Robert,
Thanks for the wishes. Of course there will be time to hit the water with you this summer. As many times as you make it up this way, give a shout.
break a leg buddy- look forward to Issue #1
Thanks Mike!
Looks like a great undertaking Scott. I look forward to the first issue.
Undertaking is right! I’m looking for the first issue to be behind me
Good luck with this! You have links on your sit to some very talented writers, I’m sure it will be successful.
Chris
Thanks Chris! I’m lucky those guys are willing to work with me (at least, they’re willing to work with each other, they just put up with me).
Sounds cool dude. Where do you find the time? You are always up to something. You sleep sometimes right?
MDW
Sleep? What’s that? I usually get about 7 hours. The last three weeks I’ve been averaging about 5.5. I’m ready for summer break. 7 1/2 days until the last day of school. Three months of bliss, coming up!
Sweet! Last month a digizine and this month a literary journal.
I will have to submit something. Do you take entries about bass?
See the submission guidelines page, it has all the info if you want to submit. There are some hard-nose editors there, so beware
We discriminate against no species, including bass.
Sorry to hear about the job. How are things looking?
Looks like we are moving to bass country
Congrats on getting something. We’ll miss you around these parts.
It will be fun to keep up with this new venture. It’s a great idea. I hope it takes off for you.
Thanks for the support!
Look forward to reading your stuff once you get going. Best of luck with the endeavour. Now back to tying flies for me – its raining hard outside so I’ve gotta wait ’til I can go fishin’ again.
Mark
Thanks for the encouragement Mark! We’re hoping for rain (haven’t seen any since the end of June).
